Course Description
 

The Franks were a tribe of barbarians who inherited the province of Gaul (modern France) when the superstructure of Roman government collapsed in late antiquity. After they assumed control of this area, it was renamed France (Francia, "land of the Franks") and their names came to be associated with Western Europeans in general.
