Overview of Graded Work

Final grades will be based on performance in two discrete categories (In-Class Exercises, Group/Written Work). Credit cannot be transferred or shared between these categories.

In-Class Exercises: Pre-Test, Assessments, Post-Test   400+ pts. (up to 550 pts.)

Group Work / Written Work / Reactions   550 pts. maximum

  Group Work (In-Class Discussions): 250 pts. (50 pts. @)
Written Work: Papers: 600 pts. maximum (150 pts. @)
  Reactions: 200 pts. (50 pts. @)

TOTAL   950+ pts.

There are multiple opportunities to earn credit in both major categories in which credit is offered (In-Class Exercises, Group/Written Work/Reactions). Note, however, that the Group/Written Work category has a maximum of 550 pts. Students are encouraged to do work in both categories until they have achieved as much credit as possible in each category.

All in all, the more you try, the better you can do. So, I'll make this compact with you. If you try to work with me, I'll work with you. That is, if you're having trouble in the class, come and see me. The point of the class is to better your life through your education, and that aim supercedes any grading procedure, which is why I give you multiple opportunities to earn points and show me in different ways that you have improved your understanding of history.
