Course Description
 

That Akhetaten lies in a remote region of Egypt argues against the notion that Akhenaten sought a wider public and greater visibility for his regime and its unique religion. Still, it's not clear how inaccessible the city and atenism really was once Akhenaten's religion was in place. Certainly enough people worked and lived in Akhetaten to run Egyptian government for more than a decade. So, at least in its heyday, it cannot have been thoroughly isolated from the rest of Egypt.
