MATH 1050 Lesson 19

Lesson 19: Discrete Mathematics

Objectives:

Many number patterns occur in nature and hence have been studied by scientists over many centuries. This lesson deals with number sequences and sums of number sequences. Sometimes a term of a sequence is defined as a function of the previous terms. In this case, the sequence or number pattern is given recursively. You will learn how to use the special mathematical notation for sequences and find various terms and summations. You will also investigate the behavior of a sequence when the the value of the subscript gets larger and larger.
