MATH 1050 Lesson 21

Lesson 21: Discrete Mathematics, Binomial Theorem

Objectives:

In this section, a general formula is developed and used to calculate an expansion of (a + b) raised to the n-th power. You will also be able to find any particular term of such an expansion. The binomial theorem is not only useful for simplifying algebraic expressions it is also used extensively in probability and statistics. You will also learn how to evaluate the binomial coefficients with your calculator.
