I choose e). Locate a Web site that provides us with age structure in Utah.

  1. First I swith to the website http://ameristat.org. On the right side, there are several options. I click on the botton "Sources of Data".
  2. Then I looking for the keyword "population". I found "Population Estimates and Projections" Then I found the following link: U.S. Census Bureau, "State Population Estimates: Annual Time Series, July 1, 1990 to July 1, 1998," accessed online at http://www.census.gov/population/estimates/state/st-98-3.txt (Jan. 7, 1999). Then I click on the link.
  3. Now I went a website of U.S. Census Bureau "http://www.census.gov/population/estimates/state/st-98-3.txt". It says "Not found on Census Site".
  4. So I looked at the bottom of this page. I click on "Home" button so I end at the homepage of U.S. Census Bureau "http://www.census.gov/index.html".
  5. On the left of this page, I found the button of "American Factfinder" so I click on it. Now I was looking at the homepage of American Factfinder, "http://factfinder.census.gov/java_prod/dads.ui.homePage.HomePage".
  6. After I read this page, I clicked on the button of "Facts about My Community".
  7. I read this page and click on the only active button "Community Profiles ". An interactive page appeared with the options of every state.
  8. I found Utah and check the box. On the left side of this page, there are three button. First is "Select Geography". I have select Utah.
  9. The second is "Select profile". I click on it and check the box of "D-1 General Population and Housing Characteristics: 1990".
  10. Then I click on the third button on the left side "View profile, creat". Then I got the data set of age distribution of Utah in 1990 population census.
  11. The final website is http://factfinder.census.gov/java_prod/dads.ui.fac.CommunityFactsPage.
