Stat 2000, Section 001, Homework Assignment 4X (3 EC Points only)

1) Extra Credit (EC):
Please work on the following textbook exercises in Moore/McCabe/Craig:
- Exercise 2.43, 2.46, 2.65, 2.101, 2.102, 2.138 (0.5 point each)
Use the applet where specified. If no applet is specified, use statistical software of your choice (CrunchIt, Excel, etc.). To document your answer to a question, include a screenshot, photo taken from your computer screen, or printout from the software output that was produced. Whenever you have to calculate a regression equation, also verify the computer output by hand calculations: First use software to calculate the two means, the two standard deviation, and the correlation. Then, use the formulas from class and manually obtain b1 and b0. Are the computer results and your hand calculations exactly the same, almost the same, or not identical at all? Why?

As a reminder, Monday classes will be shifted to Tuesday next week and Tuesday classes will be cancelled. Therefore, we will meet on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday next week. Recitation/Tutoring sessions that usually take place on Tuesdays will be cancelled (due to the Monday schedule that is taught on Tuesday). Enjoy your long weekend!
