• 1) Please work on the following textbook exercises in Moore/McCabe/Craig:
  
  
  • Exercise 1.82, 1.97, 1.116, 1.117, 1.118, 1.122, 1.126, 1.128

• 2) First read the text between Exercises 1.131 and 1.132. Then work on the following textbook exercises in Moore/McCabe/Craig:

  Note: For all Normal Curve calculations, it will help to draw a sketch first (even if this is not a part of the question) and then solve the question using Table A. It is always a good idea to check your answer by using a Normal Curve applet, e.g., the one from StatCrunch. Start at http://statcrunch.com, login (assuming you have registered for StatCrunch), then select "Open StatCrunch", -> "Stat" -> "Calculators" -> "Normal" and enter the desired values and options.
  
  Alternatively, you can work with Normal Curve applets from

  Warning: Many of the existing statistical applets are Java-based and may not work on your computer due to security settings. Try to override the security settings for that particular web page or try one of the other applets.
  
  In general, it is not required to use any of these applets. But, when the question explicitly asks you to use the Normal Curve applet from the book, you have to use one of the applets listed above. However, using any of the applets is a very effective way to check your Normal Curve calculations yourself. Please keep in mind that during all of our exams, you will have to use Table A and you won't have access to any applet - so by then, you should know how to work with Table A only.
