The decision for me to pursue the master of physical and sports education degree from Utah State University has proven to be one of the most valuable decisions I have made. The knowledge obtained, relationships I have built with faculty members, and opportunities I have been given to apply the education I received from USU Online has prepared me for success on both professional and personal levels. I would recommend this program from USU Online to those who intend to set themselves apart in the workforce.Jesse Parker, Master of Physical and Sports Education, 2014
The master’s in physical and sports education program challenged and prepared me for a career in college athletics. The faculty has a student-first mentality which allowed for open communication. There is no doubt in my mind that I wouldn’t be where I am today without it.K.C. Smurthwaite, Master of Physical and Sports Education, Director of Development and Athletics at USU
The master in public health, health education and promotion program has taught me so much about ways to advocate for a cause, develop and work with coalitions, and identify and develop programs to help promote health in my community and the world. The study abroad experience was amazing. To learn about global health needs by meeting with communities and individuals with those needs provided incredible context for our learning. The faculty are responsive and helpful, offering interesting and challenging assignments and projects in an online environment, allowing me to continue with my current employment and responsibilities with my family.Sara, MPH HEP
The study abroad option in this master in public health program was really a draw for me to choose USU. The online program is a great fit for my unpredictable on-call work schedule, but the opportunity to meet other online students in person was really fun and helpful in understanding how other students handle juggling home, work and school responsibilities and allowed for some good networking opportunities. Studying global health issues in Thailand where we were able to meet individuals involved in addressing those needs and working with and meeting individuals from high-risk populations gave me valuable insight into the context and complexities of global health. One of my career goals is to work in global maternal and child health, and I feel that going to Thailand helped me to be more prepared and qualified for that.Sara Margetts, MPH HEP, Graduating 2021
My youngest child was born with a cleft palate and my oldest with autism. I got to see firsthand how speech therapy improved their quality of life and it sparked within me a desire to pursue this career. Attending the USU 2nd bachelor's online program in communicative disorders and deaf education was the only way I could complete school again while being a full-time mom. Now I can apply that knowledge to my work as a mother and help other people. USU gave me the start I needed to reach my goals.Kera Washburn, Bachelor’s in COMDDE, 2019
I feel like the online delivery was perfect for me. I was able to work at my own pace, do my lectures at whatever time was comfortable for me, and it wasn’t purely textbook-based. I was able to watch lectures and interact with my peers by talking in discussions posts. It wasn’t just one form of learning. I was able to understand the material and all my instructors were super good with emailing me back. My questions were answered by peers, instructors, and teaching assistants. Every single course I took had some form of discussion or group project, or some form of collaboration with other people, where I got to meet other people and get to know other cultures and ways of thinking.Veronica Passalaqua, Bachelor’s in COMDDE, 2019, Pennsylvania
The online delivery was super handy. Taking exams at 11:30 p.m. isn’t super fun, but it was something I needed to do as a parent and a working mom. The instructors were all easily accessible, I was able to communicate with my fellow online students, and taking classes online was a really helpful way to pursue a degree I was really interested in. My favorite thing about getting a degree from Utah State is that it has a great reputation in the field.Amanda Jesse, Bachelor’s in COMDDE, Wisconsin
The thing I liked most about my education at Utah State was that I wasn’t alone. My first degree was on campus, and when I first started with USU Online I was really surprised with how included I felt. I can remember sitting at my kitchen table going over a study lecture but I wasn’t understanding some of the material. Then my professor said, ‘You know what? If you don’t get it, not a problem. Give me a call on my cell phone.’ That was huge for me because in my prior college experience I had a professor who told me I could find the answer on YouTube. So, for this USU professor to be willing to help me was great. Despite being hundreds of miles away, I felt like I was in the classroom.Bridget Clifford, Bachelor’s in COMDDE, 2019, Nevada
