In accordance with the Utah Indoor Clean Air Act, effective January 1, 1995, smoking is prohibited entirely in all Utah State University buildings, sports arena facilities used by the public, and work areas. Smoking is prohibited within 25 feet of building entrances, exits, air intakes, or windows that can be opened.
All faculty, staff and students are responsible for adhering to this policy and appropriately informing campus visitors. Deans, department heads, and other supervisory personnel are responsible for enforcing the policy. Student violators should be referred to the University Standards Committee in the Office of the Vice President for Student Services, which handles disciplinary proceedings for violation of University policies. Staff violators should be referred to the appropriate dean, department head and/or supervisor, who will take appropriate steps.
Any questions about the Utah Indoor Clean Air Act should be directed to the University's Environmental Health and Safety Office.
