USU's 137th Commencement
It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and you’re invited!
All faculty are cordially invited to participate in USU’s 137th Commencement. Our celebration begins with the Procession from the Quad to the Spectrum. Upon arrival at the Spectrum, the official Commencement ceremony will begin with speeches by President Cantwell, our student valedictorian, and Gail Miller, owner of the Larry H. Miller Company and renowned philanthropist. (Additional information about Gail Miller and our other honorary degree recipients can be found online.) Following Commencement, faculty are invited to attend their college convocation. You won’t want to miss any moment of USU’s 137th Commencement, Procession and college convocations.
New This Year
For the Procession, faculty will line up on the west side of the Quad, closest to Old Main. Faculty will form two lines facing the center Quad sidewalk. The president, dignitaries, and deans will process down the east stairs of Old Main and the center Quad sidewalk. Faculty will then join the Procession. This new Procession route will provide the opportunity to walk through all graduating students. Whether it’s your first Procession or your 32nd, this event will leave a lasting impression.
Procession line-up begins on the Quad at 7:50 a.m. on Thursday, May 2nd. Here are a few additional details to keep in mind:
- Wear your academic regalia and good walking shoes. Plan for Utah spring weather.
- Embrace the opportunity to celebrate and engage with your colleagues and students outside on the Quad.
- After the President’s party descends the east steps of Old Main, the faculty will process immediately behind.
- The Procession route is approximately a half mile.
- Upon arrival at the Spectrum, faculty will form a gauntlet for all students to walk through. This is a wonderful opportunity to cheer on your students!
- Commencement begins in the Spectrum at 9:00 a.m. and concludes at 11:00 a.m.
College convocations will begin immediately following Commencement and will continue through Friday, March 3rd. A detailed schedule for each event is included on the Commencement website. For more commencement details, please visit our main website.
Come celebrate the remarkable accomplishments of our graduating Aggies!
