The Utah State University Departments of Biology and Chemistry + Biochemistry provide tutoring services to USU students based on availability. Students interested in meeting with a tutor in one of the subjects listed in "Tutoring Subjects" are encouraged to schedule an appointment with a tutor based on the course(s) you are seeking support for.

Tanner Burt

Bio: Tanner Burt is a Senior working towards a degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. After graduating he plans to attend medical school in order to continue his education and pursue a career in healthcare. In his spare time he enjoys getting outside to do some trail riding on his dirt bike or mountain bike.

Bio: I'm from St George, Utah. I am a Biochem major in my second year at Utah State. My favorite chemist is Linus Pauling. My favorite band is The Strokes. I like to run, play basketball, volleyball, pingpong, watch movies, race cars, snowboard, mountain bike, and play games with friends. One of my goals for the future is to cure cancer. I love science and I am very excited to be a tutor this semester!

After my time at Utah State, I plan to volunteer abroad in a medical clinic for several months before entering medical school and becoming a physician. I have worked in the Utah State Alzheimers research lab since my freshman year and have loved being involved in various clubs and intramurals!"

Bio: Braxton is a Junior studying Human Biology with a minor in Chemistry. After graduating, he hopes to attend dental school. In his free time, he loves to go snowboarding and fishing. He also loves playing basketball and cheering for the Phoenix Suns.

Bio: Josh Baugh is a Junior working towards a degree in Economics. After graduation, he plans to attend dental school. He has a love for dogs and hopes to own a french bulldog one day. In his free time he loves to hike, camp, lift weights, and read.

Bio: My name is Allen, but people call me AJ. I’m from Idaho Falls, Idaho. I am a senior studying biology with a minor in chemistry. I hope to go on to graduate school and research new findings in genetics and genomics. I’m learning how to play the piano, and I enjoy rock climbing, stand-up comedy, and comic books.

Bio: Rebecca is a recent USU graduate who graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology with a minor in Chemistry. Currently she is working as a Medical Assistant at a vascular clinic while preparing for acceptance into a PA program to become a Physician Assistant. In her spare time, she loves to do anything outside including swimming, hiking, hammocking, skiing and playing pickleball. Napping however will always be her favorite hobby. Her lifelong dream is to be on and win The Amazing Race. Go Aggies!!!

Will Simms

Will Simms

Bio: Will is a junior at Utah State. His major is Human Biology with minors in Chemistry and Spanish. His goal is to go to dental school and become a general dentist, so he can help people become more confident in themselves. In his spare time, Will enjoys spending time with family and friends and being outside. When outside he loves fly fishing, playing volleyball or basketball, and playing disc golf. He is also a big fan of watching the L.A. Dodgers on TV.

Bio: I am from California, but I came all the way here to Utah for the teaching program at USU. I am studying both Chemistry and Biology. My passion is teaching! I am super excited to become a high school science teacher and one day a professor. Other things that make me happy are cooking, biking, going to the beach, playing board games and Disneyland. I'm super excited to be a tutor this year! Science rules!

Bio: My name is Justus Wilhelmsen. I am a Junior here at Utah state studying Biochemistry. My plans for after college is to attend medical school and become a Doctor. Outside of school, I enjoy playing and watching sports. My current favorite sports to play are spikeball, pickleball, and golf.

 
Westin Walker

Westin Walker

Bio: Westin is a Junior studying Nutrition Science with a minor in chemistry. After graduating, he plans on attending medical school to further pursue his goal to become an anesthesiologist. He grew up here in Cache Valley and has been raised going to Utah State football and basketball games his whole life. He is an avid football, baseball, and college basketball fan and loves watching his favorite teams. In his spare time, Westin loves to be outside, including golfing, skiing, camping, hunting, and hiking.

Shania Carlisle

Shania Carlisle

Bio:  I am attending my 6th year of college. I spent my first 3 years of college attending Yakima Valley Community College, in Yakima, Washington. I decided to attend Yakima Valley after receiving a scholarship to play softball. I graduated from Yakima Valley in 2018, and I received a transfer scholarship to Utah State University. 
I started attending Utah State University in the fall of 2018. I will graduate from USU with a double emphasis in human biology and cellular molecular biology, also a degree in biochemistry and a minor in math. I enjoy science and math classes very much and I am very interested in all aspects of science. 
I will take the MCAT’S in the spring of 2021 and after will begin applying to medical schools. I would like to study to be a surgeon. I will attend a medical school and residency and then specialize in surgery. 
During the summer when I am not in school, I am assistant restaurant manager at a glamping resort in Garden City, Utah. I have worked at Conestoga Ranch every summer for the past 5 summers. I enjoy the job especially meeting people from all over the world that come glamping.
