The Staff Employee Association at USU awarded Taya Flores as the 2019 Employee of the Year during its annual luncheon on May 14 in the TSC Ballroom.

Flores is in the office of the Vice President for Student Affairs and had a table full of her staff waving pom poms and cheering for her when her name was announced.
She is credited with being a hard-worker, consistent and a high-energy employee who motivates others.

"Taya is a great leader," says Whitney J. Pugh, Executive Director for Budget & Planning and Business Services. "She leads two teams: her Business Services team, and the Scholarship Office. Each of these is a full-time job in and of themselves; she does both.

Pugh went on to say how Flores has helped create a close-knit working environment for those working in the Business Services and Scholarship Office.
"She never slows down," Pugh said. "For some people, it is unsettling, because she sets such a rapid pace. But the things she is able to do speak for themselves. She gets results. New policies. New processes. Whatever. She does it every day. It’s not a thing that she just 'turns on' from time to time. She is always at one speed: full-speed ahead. It’s remarkable. I have been her supervisor for 7 or 8 years, and she really does amaze me with the things she does."
