USU College of Science Hosts 'Science Week' Nov. 1-5

The Utah State University community is invited to enjoy brain-energizing fun as USU’s College of Science Student Council hosts ‘Science Week’ Nov. 1-5.

“Our student-led Science Council has put together a variety of great activities,” says Jonathan Mousley, USUSA College of Science Senator. “There’s something for everyone, with networking, learning, games, prizes, food and fun.”

All are invited to Science Week activities, which include:

Monday, Nov. 1

All Aggies are invited to participate in Mental Health Night from 6-8 p.m. in the Eccles Business Building (EBB), rooms 214, 216 and 218. Participants will enjoy visits with therapy dogs, free donuts and hot chocolate, guided meditation and yoga, while learning about university resources. Raffle prizes include a yoga mat, a hammock and grocery store gift cards.

Tuesday, Nov. 2

Visit the second-floor Taggart Student Center (TSC) lounges from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. to join in Science Carnival Games with STEM activity booths and free popcorn. Prizes include Amazon gift cards and candy.

Wednesday, Nov. 3

In four minutes with four slides, student researchers will present Rapid Fire Presentations about big ideas from 6-7:30 p.m. in the Life Sciences Building Auditorium (LSB 133). Mix and mingle with presenters and enjoy free Aggie Ice Cream, plus raffle prizes of Amazon and USU Campus Store gift cards.

Thursday, Nov. 4

Love trivia? Head to the Taggart Student Center (TSC) Stevenson Ballroom from 7-8:30 p.m. for Science Trivia Night with fun and free soda, chips, cookies and popcorn. Prizes include Amazon gift cards and USU swag.

Friday, Nov. 5

It’s Movie Night from 7-10 p.m. in the Life Sciences Building Auditorium (LSB 133). View a screening of the 2015 blockbuster, “The Martian,” and enjoy free soda and popcorn. Admission is a non-perishable food item for the Cache Community Food Pantry.

All are also invited to Public Viewing Night at the USU Observatory, on the roof of the Science-Engineering-Research (SER) building, on Friday from 7-9:30 p.m. Check the observatory’s website for directions and important information. (Cloudy conditions or inclement weather will cancel the viewing, so check the website before arrival.)
