President Albrecht and USU Thank All Involved in Quick Response
Fellow Aggies,
I was reminded yesterday why I am proud to be an Aggie. As a terrible accident unfolded on our campus, dozens of students and nearby construction workers risked their lives to save a Utah State University student trapped underneath a burning car.
USU student Brandon Wright was driving his motorcycle eastbound on 400 North near the new Agricultural Building when he collided with a car. Brandon was trapped under the car as both vehicles erupted into flames.
As the chaos unfolded, several nearby students and construction workers from the Ag Building ran to assist. They all worked together to lift the burning car off Brandon and pull him from the flames before emergency personnel arrived.
Words cannot express my gratitude to the group of people willing to jump in and assist someone in need. I am greatly humbled by their bravery and by their quick thinking. Their actions likely saved Brandon’s life.
My thoughts go out to Brandon and his family for a speedy recovery. The USU community will be cheering you on and will welcome your return to campus.
Sincerely,
Stan L. Albrecht
President
Utah State University
