LOGAN – Utah State University welcomed students from more than two dozen northern Utah high schools to the Logan campus recently for the 2025 Academic Olympiad.

“The 2025 Academic Olympiad provided a valuable opportunity for students from Northern Utah Curriculum Consortium schools to showcase their academic abilities,” said Max Longhurst, professional practice associate professor and USU NUCC representative. “In the highly competitive Battle for Olympus, a rare three-way tie sparked excitement, ultimately settled through multiple rounds of tie-breaking questions. Similarly, the individual events included remarkably tight scoring, with numerous ties settled through tie-breaking analytics. Congratulations to all the teams and participants for their outstanding performance and academic achievements.”

More than 200 students from the 26 schools demonstrated their academic skills by participating in both individual and team events on Jan. 23. The Olympiads competed in timed assessments in the areas of math, science, language arts, and social studies. Gold, silver, and bronze awards were given to both individual students and schools who finished in the top three of each category.

The collaboration between the Northern Utah Curriculum Consortium (NUCC) and USU began in 1985. This partnership has continued to honor the academic skills of Northern Utah high school students.
