LOGAN, Utah — The Caine College of the Arts Department of Music will showcase its talented voice majors in the annual Aria Competition on Feb. 10 at 7:30 p.m. in the Russell/Wanlass Performance Hall.
The Aria Competition will highlight the artistry and skill of voice major students, while also fostering connections with the community through opera.
“Every one of these arias that will be performed will have high emotions portrayed in them,” said Voice Area Coordinator Thomas Glenn. “We anticipate that the audience will be moved by these performances.”
Voice majors will showcase their skills through a solo opera performance in front of an expert judge, renowned baritone Andrew Garland. The winner of the competition will receive a $500 tuition discount for next semester.
This event is a unique chance to listen to a wide variety of operatic music through the ages and enjoy the emotions brought to life through opera. Audience participation will even be requested to honor one performer with the “Audience Favorite” award.
“Art is a vital component of society,” Glenn said. “It reminds us that we’re human.”
Admission is free and open to the public. Mark your calendar to enjoy a memorable night of opera music. For more information, visit the online calendar.
