Logan is a Top College Town in the Nation

Logan, Utah, home to Utah State University, is one of the top college towns in the nation. The town was ranked #3 in the Top 10 College Towns for 2012 by Livability.com in August 2012.

Logan made the list because USU offers a host of quality of life amenities appealing to all residents, including arts and cultural activities, top-notch medical facilities and nightlife, as well as economic development assets, such as research and development, continuing education and workforce training, said Livability.com.

“We have always known that Logan is a wonderful community in an outstanding location,” said USU President Stan L. Albrecht. “It’s nice to have Logan highlighted in this way bringing not only Logan, but Utah State University, much deserved national recognition.”

Logan is located in northern Utah’s Cache Valley, 80 miles northeast of Salt Lake City and within a day’s driving distance of six national parks. The surrounding area, including ski resorts, lakes, rivers and mountains, makes Utah State one of the finest recreational environments in the nation.

Livability’s list is the third installment of an annual listing of America’s best college towns and includes communities where the identity of the city is both shaped by and complementary to the presence of its university, creating an environment enjoyable to all residents, whether they are enrolled in classes or not.

To narrow down the 2012 list, editors at Livability.com consulted with Robert Franek, senior vice president, publisher and author of Princeton Review’s 21st edition Best Colleges Guidebook. Editors used the Best Colleges ranking as a starting point in identifying top-ranked universities within Livability.com’s listing of the Best Places to Live.

Logan was also recently recognized as one of the “Best Underrated College Towns,” by Maria Minsker from Cornell University in February 2012.
