LOGAN — The Merrill-Cazier Library, a cornerstone of learning and collaboration at Utah State University, is marking its 20th anniversary in 2025.

After two and a half years of construction and the relocation of more than 1.5 million volumes, the Merrill-Cazier Library opened in 2005 as a state-of-the-art facility. Since then, the building has served as the intellectual center of campus, providing access to knowledge, fostering community and supporting lifelong learning.

Over two decades, the space has evolved to meet the changing needs of students, faculty and staff. In 2024 the Innovation Hub was opened on the first floor, an adaptable learning space designed to support teaching, research and creative work. The building also now houses the Office of Academic Belonging & Learning Excellence, expanding opportunities for student success and engagement.

“As we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Merrill-Cazier Library, I have been reflecting on how our space has truly stood the test of time,” said Dean of Libraries Jennifer Duncan. “Thanks to the vision and leadership of Vice Provost Linda Wolcott, the building was designed to be open, flexible and welcoming so that our students, faculty and staff can imagine new possibilities as their needs change. Two decades later, the Merrill-Cazier Library remains the heart of campus: a place to learn, create, collaborate and connect, and I look forward to the next chapter of our story.”
