Science enthusiasts of all ages are invited to the American Association of Physics Teachers Idaho-Utah Section Physics Demo Show Friday, March 1, 2019, at Utah State University. The free event begins at 7 p.m. in the Eccles Science Learning Center, Emert Auditorium, ESLC 130.
The gathering is a public outreach event of the group’s annual, two-day meeting held, this year, at USU.
“AAPT is a professional association of scientists dedicated to enhancing the understanding and appreciation of physics through teaching,” says James Coburn, teaching lab supervisor in USU’s Department of Physics and a conference organizer. “By presenting a demo show, our members are sharing their expertise and honing their teaching skills.”
Expect an evening of non-stop science fun, Coburn says, as Intermountain West teachers step to the podium to present five-minute demonstrations of a wide range physics principles.
“This a great way for teachers and student teachers to share ideas and practice demonstrations,” he says. “And it will be a lot of fun for spectators.”
The Eccles Science Learning Center is located south of the Taggart Student Center and north of Old Main on USU’s Logan campus.
Parking for the event is available in the surface lot south of Old Main and in the university parking terraces at 850 E. 700 North and 700 E. 600 North.
