LOGAN, Utah — Prolific artist Janina Myronova will visit Utah State University as part of the Communitas Lecture Series at 5 p.m. Oct. 10 in Room 216 of the Eccles Conference Center.
Myronova, a Ukraine-born, Poland-based artist, has been captivating audiences worldwide with her vibrant clay sculptures that blend "chubby, anatomically misshapen" forms with rich cultural narratives.
Since completing her Ph.D. in 2019, Myronova has created unique pieces in various countries, including Taiwan, South Korea and France, allowing each region to influence her work and storytelling.
Professor John Neely, who recommended Myronova for Communitas, appreciates her artistic expression.
“I’m always impressed with how prolific she is. She works incredibly fast and is extremely consistent,” Neely said. “She has her own take on the world that I find really admirable.”
Myronova’s background and strong cultural influence on her art align with the purpose of the Communitas Lecture Series.
“Communitas was created to expose art students to visiting artists from all disciplines and from all walks of life,” Neely said.
According to Neely, the Communitas Lecture Series has been very influential for students.
“It’s been quite impactful in that it really does broaden their horizons,” Neely said.
Myronova’s lecture is free and open to the public, no ticket required. For more information, visit the Communitas Lecture Series website.
