Utah State to Hold Annual Women's Basketball Banquet April 21

Utah State [University] will hold its annual women's basketball end of season banquet Thursday, April 21, at 6:30 p.m., at the Copper Mill Restaurant in downtown Logan. The cost of the event is $25 per person.

Raegan Pebley, the 2011 Western Athletic Conference Coach of the Year, and the Aggie coaching staff will present individual awards and a highlight video will be shown. USU will recognize all of its players who earned all-WAC honors in 2011. The team will also receive watches for participating in the Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT). Utah State radio announcer Evan Nyman will be the emcee for the evening.

The Aggies finished the season 18-15, which is the most wins in Utah State history. USU finished third in the Western Athletic Conference and advanced to the semifinals of the WAC Tournament for the second time in school history.

Utah State made its first-ever trip to the WNIT, defeating Arizona 103-95 in the first round. The 103 points were the most points scored by the Aggies since a 96-39 win against Southern Idaho in 1984. It was also the first time that USU scored 100 points since Utah State beat New Mexico State, 105-98 Feb. 20, 1982. The Aggies would eventually fall to BYU in the second round.

Anyone interested in attending the banquet should contact the USU Athletics Department, (435) 797-1850. Reservations will be accepted until Tuesday, April 19, at 3 p.m.

The Aggies will honor a quartet of seniors who made a huge impact on the Utah State program. Guard Alice Coddington leaves USU as the Aggies' all-time leader in steals and third all-time in assists. Guard/forward Amber White earned second-team all-WAC honors in 2010, while guard LaCale Pringle-Buchanan and forward Stacey Howard made collective contributions in their two years in Aggie blue.
