Employee Wellness Assistant
My name is Tony Popoca. I am very excited to be the new Employee Wellness Assistant with the Be Well Program. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Utah State in 2014. I took a year off to travel the world then I returned to school and graduated in 2017 with a Master’s Degree in Fitness Promotion with an emphasis in Corporate Wellness. I grew up in a very active family and fitness was the backbone of how we connected to each other. I played soccer, football, baseball, hockey, and basketball through my youth and teenage years. My passion for sport and fitness continued as I began college, where I took a variety of activity courses while additionally teaching group fitness classes and training individuals in group and one-on-one settings. I found that the impact I had on other people paled in comparison to the impact they had on me. It is rewarding to see somebody transform their lives physically, emotionally, and mentally.
My involvement and experience in the health and fitness industry has taught me that people have amazing potential. Once they begin to take ownership of their own well-being, their health in the other areas of their lives start to improve. My goal is to continue helping employees at USU achieve the best version of themselves and cultivate a holistic wellness environment. I believe in the Be Well Program because we want to educate, empower, and help give people the tools to take control and make their own decisions on their health journey. A wise person once told me that if you learn how to fish, you will be fed for a lifetime. Health is no different, all you need are the right tools and information.
Please don't hesitate to contact me if you ever have any questions, concerns, or ideas to improve the Be Well Program!
