The following activities are designed to help you become involved in the community, add to your personal development, and build strong familial and social relationships. Each activity is worth 100 points; participants must earn 100 points from the Be Well category.

Join the Aggies Thrive Group on Meetup and Attend an Event

100 points

Being part of a community can have a positive effect on mental and emotional wellbeing. Forming connections and relationships with people who have similar interests and hobbies can offer a sense of belonging that all of us need to thrive. As part of the Aggies Thrive initiative for faculty and staff, we’d like to introduce you to the Aggies Thrive group through Meetup, a place that can help you find those important connections in your community. Join now and begin registering to attend events! Want to host your own event? Follow these instructions to get started. You may also attend another local group event if there are no Aggies Thrive events in your area.

Coping Skills Booster with a Mentor

A Coping Skills Booster session is an opportunity for a virtual or in-person, one-on-one workshop with a coping mentor to cultivate additional life management skills. A mentor can assist individuals to improve their coping skills in areas such as self-care, stress reduction, personal value system conflicts, and life/role changes. A coping mentor uses a compassionate, solution-focused approach to educate and encourage individuals practice coping and resilience skills. Individuals may meet up to three (3) times with a mentor free of charge.

Create Your Own Activity Option

Don't see an activity that interests you? Maybe you are already doing something that could meet the requirements? New this year, you can create your own activity for the Be Well category! Activities need pre-approval from the Be Well program before submitting for documentation. Email bewell@usu.edu for approval of activity, determine necessary documentation requirements and any other questions.

Attend Three Different Sporting Events, Plays or Performances

100 points

Attend three different home or away sporting events, plays or performances offered throughout your community. Snap a selfie if appropriate or scan the play bill or ticket stub and submit them via the submission page.

Average 7 Hours of Sleep Each Night for Three Weeks in a Row

100 points

Getting enough sleep is not only crucial for our physical health but also our mental health. Try to average seven hours of sleep each night, for three consecutive weeks and feel the difference a little shut eye makes! Track your sleep via FitBit or other device or track using an excel sheet. Upload a screen shot of your tracking device or the excel sheet via the submission portal. Here are some helpful tips on how to get to sleep and stay asleep.

Join a Club

100 points

Did you know that there are a number of clubs throughout the state that would love to have you as member? From bee keeping to pottery to quilting - there is a club out there for just about anyone! Pick one that interests you and snap a picture of you at one of their events and we will give you 100 points for growing your social network!

Note: If you joined the USU Commuter Club as part of the Work Well category you may not use that for this activity.

Community Involvement

100 points

Volunteering your time to give back to the community is a great way to boost your self-satisfaction as well as help others. Choose any community service project and provide proof that you had a part in it and we will reward you with 100 points! Snap a picture, or provide some other form of proof, and submit it through the submission page.

Participate in Three Different Family/Friends Activities

100 points

Having and building strong relationships has been proven to have many benefits from lowering stress to improving health measures. Organize or participate in three separate activities with your friends and family. At least one activity must include some form of physical activity. Snap a picture and submit them through the submission page.

Try Five New Healthy Recipes

100 points

According to the CDC, a healthy diet emphasizes fruits, vegetables, whole grains and fat-free or low fat dairy products. This includes lean meats, poultry, fish, beans, eggs, nuts and is low in saturated fats, trans fats, cholesterol, salt and added sugars. Show us some of your favorite meals that follow these guidelines. Submit the healthy recipes as well as a photo of your finished products via the submission page to earn 100 points.

Declutter to Destress

100 points

Small messes or areas of clutter in our lives can cause unnecessary stress. Decluttering can lower stress, give you more energy and make it easier for you to focus. For this activity, spend 5 hours (even 10 minutes/day works!) to tidy up your desk, clean out a drawer, get rid of clothes you don't wear, or organize the files on your computer to give you some ideas.

USU Extension Live Life Well Speaker Series

100 points

*Due to COVID-19, the Live Life Well Speaker Series has been postponed until further notice.*

USU Be Well has partnered with USU Extension to bring you the USU Extension Live Life Well Speaker Series. These events will provide lectures on a variety of topics aimed at improving the lives of all USU employees. These events will run throughout the semester. You will receive 100 points for attending any of the presentations. For more information regarding dates and times contact the USU Extension office at (435) 797-2187.

Nutritional Consultation and Follow-up Visit

100 points

*We are currently hiring this position and will update contact information when it is available*

Meet virtually or in-person with our Registered Dietician for a 30-45 minute nutrition assessment. They will help you review your current diet and nutrition habits and set goals for the future. We require one follow-up visit with them to track your goals and help you achieve them.
