The 1888 Challenge

Graduate with Gratitude. Give with Purpose.

Old Main

Graduation marks the culmination of your Aggie journey — and an opportunity to give back to the community that helped you get here. By donating $18.88, graduating seniors can receive a Philanthropy Cord to wear at commencement, symbolizing your commitment to supporting fellow Aggies and strengthening Utah State University’s future.

Your gift directly supports one of three vital student resources: Aggie First Scholars (AFS), empowering first-generation students to succeed and thrive; CAPS (Counseling and Psychological Services), creating a safe environment for students to access mental health and wellness resources; or the Student Emergency Hardship Fund, providing critical assistance during unexpected financial challenges. Together, these programs ensure that Aggies are supported academically, emotionally, and personally — no matter where they are on their journey.

Wearing a Philanthropy Cord is more than a graduation accessory — it’s a statement of gratitude, leadership, and care for the Aggie community. As you celebrate how far you’ve come, your generosity helps uplift the students who follow in your footsteps. Graduate with purpose. Give back as an Aggie.
