Don Burge
Don Burge Memorial
Don Burge was the Prehistoric Museum's founding Director and was at the helm for over 40 years of our 6-decade existence. He built the museum from a hallway in City Hall to one of the six accredited museums in the state. He was also an incredibly dynamic Geology professor at CEU who inspired many students to pursue science as a passion and career.
Don was truly a remarkable man with insatiable curiousity and drive. When he wasnt excavating and naming dinosaurs, he was learning to read Egyptian hyroglyphs, leading the Nine Mile Players on the banjo, building and shooting black-powder canons, or teaching students to make and use archery equipment. His accomplishments are too numerous to be summarized here but, most importantly, he was a kind and generous man who made everyone feel welcome at the museum and introduced an incredible number of students and visitors to the science of prehistory. He will be missed by all of us.
Please join his family in honoring Don Burge by donating to the Prehistoric Museum at USU Eastern in memory of Don Burge.
