Fred Hink began giving the Arrowhead Motorsports scholarship in 2016. Since that time Fred has been USU Moab’s largest scholarship donor.  Through his generosity he has made a difference in the lives of over 50 USU Moab students. The majority of USU Moab students are post-traditional students with a family at home working at least one job and have come back to school after taking an extended leave. The impact that a single scholarship can have on a student’s educational career is significant. Often times, financial support from a scholarship means that a student gets more time to invest in their studies and family rather than taking an extra shift at work, or that they have the funds to come back for another semester.

Fred loved to hear of students’ successes and was proud to help students in his Moab community. The Moab campus had the privilege of delivering thank-you notes from students to Fred for many years. Fred would carefully read each thank-you taking a genuine interest in  each student receiving one of his scholarships. He often had tears in his eyes as he learned of the impact his scholarships had made. It was fun to see the impact of his giving not only on the students, but also on Fred himself.

Fred was a kind and very generous man who’s huge heart will be missed.
