Gerald Olson

In Memory of Gerald Olson

Dr. Gerald Olson began his career with USU Extension in 1956 served in many capacities throughout his 40-plus year career. As Associate Vice President for Extension, Dr. Olson demonstrated a sincere desire to serve both urban and rural populations. He was instrumental in implementing effective change for the way counties and their Extension agents served their diverse communities and growing challenges. More importantly, he demonstrated and a love and passion for the 4-H youth programs. He saw this program as an opportunity for volunteers and leaders to mentor youth as they grow and become future community leaders. Many of the youth and volunteers he associated with speak very highly of his talents and leadership. Today, we have a handful of faculty and staff that were hired by Dr. Olson. They credit his mentorship for their long career with USU.

To remember and honor Gerald, donations may be made to the Dr. Gerald Olson Outstanding 4-H and Youth Volunteer Recognition Endowment in USU Extension.  Earnings from the Endowment will recognize outstanding 4-H volunteers/leaders and provide the funds for the selected leaders to attend a National Event of their choice.
