Newel and Eunice Rees
Memorial Scholarship Endowment
The Newel and Eunice Rees Memorial Scholarship Endowment has been created by the family of Newel and Eunice to improve the educational experience of Utah State University students.
Newel and Eunice Rees lived their entire lives in rural Utah working a small farm to provide for their family of eight children. In spite of their humble circumstances, they supported all eight of their children in obtaining some level of higher education, with four of their children obtaining graduate degrees. This scholarship is dedicated to their memory. Barbara and Lynn Rees are the primary sponsors of the scholarship. During his first year as an undergraduate, Lynn received a scholarship from an individual donor that was critical in allowing him to pursue his degree. He has always been grateful for that gift and has looked for opportunities to give back. In addition, since joining the faculty at Utah State University, Lynn has been the recipient of an endowed professorship, which was made possible by generous donors. Barbara and Lynn have quickly come to love Utah State University and desire to do something, no matter how small, to improve the educational experience of Utah State University students.
The endowment provides scholarships for USU students majoring in accounting.
