QCNR/Ecology Center Graduate
Student Emergency Medical Fund (EMF)
Thank you for your interest in donating to the QCNR/Ecology Center Graduate Student Emergency Medical Fund (EMF)! The EMF was created to assist QCNR and Ecology Center graduate students who face financial hardship due to medical debt or expenses. While most students qualify for subsidized graduate student insurance, the out-of-pocket maximum is $6350 (in-network) which amounts to a large portion of a graduate student’s annual income. The EMF provides financial aid to graduate students in circumstances where medical expenses constitute more than 10% of their annual income. The EMF has traditionally been supported through graduate student fundraisers. However, these have proved insufficient in raising adequate funds to meet the needs of EMF applicants. Over the past few years, we have been unable to fully fund applications; typically, we are only able to fund half or less of an applicant’s need. We are seeking to expand the funds available in the EMF so we can fully support students that have experienced a medical emergency and are left with medical debt they cannot afford. Thank you for donating to this fund so that we may be able to fully support future applicants’ emergency medical financial needs.
