Carolyn and Kem Gardner Learning and Leadership Building
Carolyn and Kem C. Gardner are among Utah’s most respected business leaders and philanthropists, known for their extraordinary impact on education, the arts, healthcare, and community development throughout the Intermountain West. Together, they have dedicated their lives to strengthening communities through visionary leadership, philanthropy, and a commitment to future generations.
Raised on a Wyoming farm as the son of a schoolteacher, Kem Gardner went on to become one of the region’s most prominent community builders, shaping Utah’s landscape through his leadership in business, public policy, and civic engagement. Alongside Carolyn, and with the support of their seven children and 30 grandchildren, the Gardners have demonstrated an unwavering belief in the transformative power of education.
At Utah State University, their legacy will be honored through the Carolyn and Kem Gardner Learning and Leadership Building, a new home for the Huntsman School of Business’s experiential learning programs. This state-of-the-art facility provides hands-on opportunities for students to develop leadership skills, pursue internships, and prepare to make meaningful contributions to their communities.

Stephen R. Covey Leadership Center (1932-2012)
First Floor
The Stephen R. Covey Leadership Center at Utah State University serves as a leadership development hub on campus, with programs and resources available to all students. Established in 2018, the center provides several leadership experiences and opportunities designed to help students become better leaders.
Stephen earned a bachelor’s in business administration from the University of Utah, an MBA from Harvard University and a doctorate from Brigham Young University. He is also the recipient of eight honorary doctorate degrees and served as a faculty member at Utah State University, becoming the first incumbent of the Jon M. Huntsman Presidential Chair in Leadership.
