In 1977, Utah State University students Scott Watterson and Gary E. Stevenson sat a kitchen table sketching business ideas on a napkin. The college classmates began with a small import business selling various items including wood-burning stoves and clocks. Spotting early trends in fitness and running, ICON’s founders shifted their focus to the emerging opportunities in these new industries.

In July of 2013, the ICON Sports Performance Center at USU opened, providing Aggie athletes with a 21,000-square-foot state-of-the-art training facility. The facility serves nearly 400 athletes from Utah State’s 16 sports programs each year.

In June of 2021, ICON Health & Fitness announced that it had changed its corporate name to iFIT Health & Fitness Inc. Named after the company’s propriety software platform, the change reflects iFIT’s commitment to delivering personalized, connected health and fitness experiences to its growing community.
