Brian and Natalie Broadbent appreciate the positive long-term impact scholarships can have. As students, both Brian and Natalie were fortunate to receive financial aid through scholarships. "We both talked about it at the time," Brian said. "We decided that if we were in the position or had the opportunity to give back later on in life, hopefully we can help out others, given how meaningful it was to us at the time."
Receiving aid at a crucial juncture in their lives made a significant impression on the pair, who have now generously given back to Utah State with the Brian and Natalie Broadbent Endowed Scholarship in the Huntsman School of Business to aid students majoring in finance, as well as the Natalie and Brian Broadbent Scholarship Endowment in the Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services.
In addition to these endowed scholarships, Brian is a member of the USU Foundation Board, the Huntsman School of Business National Advisory Board and the Old Main Society. Brian and Natalie were recognized for their many contributions to the university by receiving the USU Spirit of Old Main New Generation Award in 2009.
With two children currently pursuing a college education, Brian and Natalie are especially mindful of the challenges facing this year's students. "We know things are hard emotionally and also financially," Natalie said. "We know a lot of people have either lost work, or had hours cut back or adjusted. We're happy to be able to help people when times are tough, especially for college students.”
