About This Minor
The Equine Science minor at Utah State University provides students with a comprehensive understanding of equine healthcare, maintenance, and industry practices.
This minor is suitable for students pursuing majors in agricultural education, agricultural economics, plant science, nutrition and food science, business, economics, computer science, rangeland resources, and other disciplines where the animal industry has direct or indirect involvement.
What You Will Learn
Students will gain expertise in equine healthcare, horse production practices, and equine evaluation and judging. They will also have the opportunity to choose from courses covering basic horsemanship skills, feeds and feeding, and equine nutrition and exercise physiology.

Admission Requirements
- Students must maintain a 2.5 GPA in ADVS courses.
- Transfer students must have a minimum of one 3-credit upper-division course in residency with the approval of the ADVS academic advisor.
- The same departmental standards applying to the Animal, Dairy, and Veterinary Sciences major also apply to all minors.
