In our after-school clubs, we aim to make a difference in a child’s life one day at a time. We provide a safe place for children to be. We treat all of our children as people because that is what they are, little people.
"As a future educator currently enrolled in USU English Education program, I love how my position at America Reads gives me the space to practice real life teaching practices and classroom managements. This allows me to get hands on experience working with students that I can apply to what I am learning in my classes. I love my time spent at my elementary school and the kids are the highlight of my day!"
"I’ve worked in the America reads program for the past 6 years. I started working at Woodruff elementary, then CCID charter school, and finally Nibley Elementary. I’ve greatly enjoyed working with and planning activities to do with the children. I hope to continue my work with children in my postgraduate career as well."
"I first became a tutor in 2022, and since then I have continued to work for this program. Each day is a new adventure with these kids and they keep you on your toes! I have loved getting to work with each and every one of them, and I am so grateful for the bonds I have built. I am continuously learning new skills and traits I will carry onto my career. I have learned how to be patient, leadership, set boundaries, set up expectations and follow through, classroom management, emotional and behavioral regulation, and so many more. Throughout my time I have had a strong focus on creating and teaching SEL focused lessons which promote better life skills, character development, and confidence. I know the things I have learned through this experience will be very applicable into my future career as a social worker. I love this program and it can be great for anyone, no matter what you are majoring in. I am excited for what the future holds for me, but I would not be where I am today without the knowledge and experience After School Club has given to me."
