Using AI in Career Readiness
In-Person
Abstract
In this presentation we show how students and faculty can use AI tools to help develop application documents and prepare for interviews. This presentation will cover how employers use AI in their evaluation of applicants, what their hiring expectations are in regards to applicants' AI knowledge and usage, and how students can prepare themselves in their career search by using AI tools to help identify career paths, articulate their skillsets, and evaluate their performance as they enter the workforce. The key takeaway will be to teach how to effectively use AI not as a shortcut but as a tool for helping to effectively articulate skills to future employers.

I have over 17 years of experience working with career counseling and coaching, especially in the area of internships. I first started in a law school in southern California assisting future law students find externships and positions in the courts and community. After that, I moved up to Logan, UT for the first time as the Internship Coordinator for the Huntsman School of Business, managing their internship class and helping them gain experience with companies both domestic and international. I’ve also worked with the University of California Riverside with international students looking to find internships and experience while they were studying in the United States. But I couldn’t stay away from Logan, and now I’m the Associate Director of Career Design and Integration at Utah State University’s Career Design Center, focusing on helping all of our colleges and departments incorporate Career Design in not only the classroom but the entire university experience.
