GEAR UP First-Year Services
Your First-Year Mentor
Taylor Montoya
Hey fellow Aggies! I am your new First-Year Services Advisor! I am from Tooele, Utah, but I have been living in Logan for almost two years now! When I am not working or attending class, I enjoy playing card/board games, paddle boarding, going for walks, watching TV, and spending time with friends and family.
I am going into my senior year here at Utah State. I am pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Health Education & Promotion, along with a minor in Mental Health Advocacy & Awareness! While I have always had a passion for the clinical side of healthcare, I have developed a growing interest in the more upstream, preventative aspect of medicine and health.
I am very excited to help you succeed in your first year of college! As a student myself, I understand that school can be overwhelming at times. Some of my goals as your advisor are:
⁃ To assist in making your transition from high school to college as smooth as possible.
⁃ To help reduce any stress and/or anxiety you may experience over the course of the academic year.
⁃ To meet your various needs by providing support and/or directing you to existing resources.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions, concerns, or would just like someone to talk to! I am available on Fridays anytime between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM. If my availability does not accommodate your schedule, please let me know and we will discuss our options. To schedule a 30 minute appointment, email me at taylor.montoya@usu.edu.
Let’s make this year great!!
