2nd Annual Geospatial Poster Competition
As part of GIS Day 2026, the Geospatial Collective at USU is hosting a poster competition for undergraduate and graduate students to showcase their work and compete for prizes.

Who can enter
Undergraduate and graduate students from any department whose project includes a spatial component.

Categories and awards
- Graduate Research/Extension
- Undergraduate Research/Project
Each category will award up to three prizes, depending on the number of entries, along with a People’s Choice Award. Winning posters will also be featured on the Geospatial Collective website.
Poster guidelines
Format
- Create your poster in PowerPoint, Illustrator, Photoshop, or similar software.
- Maximum size: 36” × 48” (or the same 3:4 proportions).
- Color is strongly preferred over black and white.
- Use common fonts such as Arial, Times New Roman, or Garamond.
- Keep text easy to read: ideally 24 pt or larger at full print size.
Your poster should include
- Title: concise, ideally 20 words or fewer
- Authors and affiliations
- Abstract: up to 250 words
- Introduction: what your project is about, with a clear problem statement
- Materials and methods: datasets used and methods performed
- Results: maps, figures, tables, and plots that support your key findings
- Discussion: implications of your work (can be combined with Results)
- References: optional but encouraged
The judging rubric will be shared with participants one week before the competition.
