Summary
Incumbents in the Internal Auditor series perform audits to assess the adequacy and effectiveness of systems, processes and controls within Utah State University.
Reporting and Supervisory Responsibilities
The Internal Auditor I reports to the Chief Audit Executive or Assistant Director. An Internal Auditor I may be assigned to supervise a student employee or mentor an intern.
Essential Functions
- After assessing risks and key controls for audit area, develops area-specific audits program. Then, performs audit procedures identified in the audit program.
- Identifies and documents audit criteria, observation, cause of observation and effect of observation. Develops recommendations to help address the observations noted.
- Communicates or assists in communicating the results of audit and consulting projects via written reports and verbal presentations.
- Coordinates and interacts with administrators, faculty, staff, external auditors and law enforcement agencies, as needed.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education plus experience.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes. The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions.
