Summary
Incumbents in the Multimedia Technician position plan, produce, edit, deliver, and archive videos and/or photography for use in print and digital media, historic documentation, and other needs as assigned. They may also live stream events and maintain social media accounts.
Reporting and Supervisory Responsibilities
The Multimedia Technician reports to a Supervisor. This classification has no supervisory responsibilities.
Typical Functions
- Plans and shoots various events as assigned.
- Performs postproduction editing for creative services.
- Maintains social media accounts.
- Produces the live streaming of games and other events.
- Creates graphics and searches for background music.
- Researches upgrades in editing software and hardware.
- Prepares and maintains equipment.
- Coordinates with athletic coaches and staff regarding game and events schedules.
- Confers with coaches regarding video content.
- Attends development conferences.
- May train student employees.
- May perform general office duties.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of video, photographic, and multimedia production, programming, and editing from inception to completion.
- Knowledge of relevant digital equipment and imaging/editing software video color correction software and hardware.
- Knowledge of the elements and principles of design.
- Knowledge of visual arts and photography methods, techniques, and processes.
- Organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to identify technical problems and present solutions.
- Ability to professionally interact with a diverse group of clients and colleagues.
- Ability to develop ideas of others and recommend changes as needed.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Two years of experience is required.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
Employees work indoors and outdoors in various locations and conditions and can be exposed to weather, contaminants, and temperature changes. Employees are frequently required to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, use hands and fingers, and reach with hands and arms. Employees must be able to lift and move up to 30 pounds and retrieve and transport production equipment.
