Summary
Incumbents in the Team Leader Facilities series train and supervise the Facilities Service Representatives while coordinating and directing the activities of an assigned area. Incumbents perform direct labor cleaning and maintenance duties as well as personnel assignment, training and management, quality assurance, and inventory control.
Distinguishing Characteristics
The Team Leader Facilities Senior is distinguished from the Team Leader Facilities III in that incumbents in the senior level possess the knowledge and experience to perform more complex and technical tasks, facilitate the day-to-day operations in major venues on campus, and coordinate and supervise the facilities needs for large campus events.
Reporting and Supervisory Responsibilities
Team Leader Facilities Senior may report to a Manager. This classification trains, guides, and supervises full time, benefited employees
Typical Functions
- Facilitates day-to-day functions of crewmembers.
- Oversees scheduling, timecards, hiring, training, and job duties.
- Ensures work quality and venue preparation for large events through site inspections.
- Executes plans for facility preparation, whether the event is for athletics or other customers.
- Receives requests from customers requesting services or events; navigates the approval process, including negotiating contracts, logistics, and billing assistance.
- Supervises event staff.
- Manages online request forms.
- Ensures both the cleaning and maintenance of internal and external assigned facilities.
- Maintains inventory of supplies and makes or recommends purchases to meet the needs of the area.
- Organizes and coordinates building workloads and implements core and specialty cleaning practices.
- Performs direct labor cleaning and maintenance duties as a working member of the department.
- Enforces proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies
- Promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
- Promotes personal safety of crewmembers by monitoring, evaluating, and enforcing safe behaviors.
- Provides quality customer service to building occupants.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of cleaning equipment, products, techniques, and standards.
- Knowledge of hazardous materials coupled with the ability to handle them effectively.
- Ability to identify maintenance problems that need the attention of repair personnel.
- Knowledge of building safety codes and regulations.
- Knowledge of management skills and supervisory theories.
- Knowledge of the rules and policies of the facilities maintenance department.
- Ability to direct and train staff, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work. assignments.

Minimum Qualifications
Three years of commercial or industrial cleaning experience is required.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
The environment for this classification varies and includes office environments and outdoor environments. In the office environment, employees are protected from weather conditions, but not necessarily temperature changes. In the outdoor environment, employees are not protected from weather conditions and may be exposed to extreme heat and extreme cold. The employee may also be exposed to loud noises, vibrations from equipment, and atmospheric conditions that may affect the respiratory system, such as fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, and poor ventilation.
