Biography

Paul is the Artistic Producer for the Lyric Repertory Company and the Department Head for Theatre Arts at Utah State University. Having lived and worked all over the world, including Egypt, Japan, France, Spain, Seattle, and Salem (MA), Paul spent fourteen years in Hawai‘i teaching at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, where he chaired the Department of Theatre and Dance and was the Head of the Acting Program. He has worked on over 175 productions as an actor, director, playwright, producer, fight director, dance choreographer and videographer. He was a Founder of the Seattle Shakespeare Festival (now Company), and also helmed companies such as Salem Theatre Company, All the World’s a Stage, Genesis Theatre Project, Hawaii Repertory Company, and produced and directed bi-lingual productions of Macbeth and A Midsummer Night’s Dream in Japan. His productions have received awards from KCACTF, the Moss Hart Award, and many Po‘okela Awards for Excellence from the Hawai‘i State Theatre Council. One of his most recent productions was Dreaming American, which he wrote about his father’s immigration journey from Egypt. Paul received his BA in Stage Movement and his MFA in Acting from the University of Washington and is a longtime member of AEA and SAG/AFTRA.
