T. Dorsch, trans., Classical Literary Criticism: Aristotle's Poetics (Penguin, 1965) 15. Else [Aristotle: Poetics (Univ. of Michigan Press, 1970) 10] confirms this opinion: "[T]he text of the Poetics is abrupt, elliptical, sometimes incoherent, to a degree unexampled among Aristotle's other acroamatic (i.e. abstruse, not for public presentation) works."
