SEA January 2022 Professional Development Seminar on Resiliency Recording Now Available

Held on January 20, 2022, SEA members gathered virtually to learn about resiliency from a panel of military veterans at USU.

Tony Flores (Moderator)

Tony spent three and a half years in the Army as an Airborne Infantryman. After completing his military obligation, he returned to USU and completed his BA in Liberal Arts & Sciences. Additionally, he became a graduate assistant coach with the USU Football program under Brent Guy and Gary Anderson. During his tenure with Gary, he was allowed to build a veterans program at USU from the ground up. He now works as the Director of the Veterans Resource Office.

Brian Kartchner

Brian served for six years in the Utah Army National Guard and was ordered to active duty in 2011 to support Operation New Dawn in Iraq. Brian is currently a Graphic Designer at the Quinney College of Natural Resources and a Ph.D. Candidate in Instructional Technology and Learning Sciences.

Paul Klimack

Paul Klimack (MSG, retired) served 22 year army (AGR) 2 years Artillery, 20 Recruiting and Retention. His current job is School Certifying Official, VITAL Program Coordinator for USU, and Office Manager.

He is committed to assisting veterans and veterans dependents navigate through the Academic world and ensure they are getting and utilizing all the educational benefits they are entitled to. He is a counselor, friend and a mentor to all veterans (whether in college , or not) and will help them when issues and problem arise.

He was born in Russell, Canada and attended the University of Manitoba, graduating with a BSc in Zoology in 1991. He became a US citizen in 1999 and wanted to give back to the USA so he joined the UTARNG. In 2001 he was selected for AGR into Recruiting and Retention BN for UTARNG. He loved recruiting and giving young and older individuals alike the opportunity to better themselves, by enlisting into the Guard, if they desired. During his tenure, he recruited a little over 600 applicants into the UTARNG, received Top Recruiter for UTAH on 4 occasions and was selected top RRNCO for the Western USA once. Attended BAT in 2008.

Angela Minichiello

Angela (Angie) Minichiello is a 1987 graduate of the U.S. Military Academy (West Point) and U.S. Army veteran. Angie served as a commissioned officer, with MOS 154C CH-47 pilot, on active duty (1987-1994) and in the Georgia National Guard (1994-1996). During her time on active duty, Angie was assigned to Camp Humphreys, South Korea (1989-1990) and later deployed to Saudi Arabia and Iraq during the Gulf War (1990-1991) and Honduras (1992) for humanitarian support.

After leaving active-duty service, Angie earned a master’s degree in mechanical engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology (1997). She worked as a mechanical design engineer and senior thermal systems engineer for the Hewlett Packard Company and, after moving to Utah, at the Space Dynamics Laboratory. In 2016, Angie earned a PhD in engineering education and is currently an assistant professor in the USU Department of Engineering Education.
