1970-2020: 50 Years of Service
The Val R. Christensen Service Center is celebrating 50 years of service!
We began in 1970 as one of the first campus volunteer organizations in the nation. With the participation and support of thousands of Aggies over the decades, we’ve built a reputation as a state leader in volunteerism–and in Utah, that is saying a lot.
Thank you to everyone who has been involved in helping reach this milestone. We hope you’ll take part in our celebration by participating in a project, sending a donation, or sharing your story of service.
We look forward to many more years of serving our campus, community, and beyond.

Our Namesake: Val R. Christensen
Val R. Christensen worked at USU for more than 30 years before retiring in 1996 as vice president of student services. In 1970, while serving as director of student activities, he became the advisor for the school’s newly formed service center, the Volunteer Organization for Involvement in the Community and Environment (VOICE). The center was renamed in his honor in 1998.Mission, Vision & History
