President's Day Weekend Alternative Break: Community Responses to Homelessness

Make a difference during your President's Day Weekend with Alternative Breaks. Come with us to Salt Lake City, UT as we volunteer with The Other Side Academy, The Road Home, and Fill the Pot Ministry, learning about approaches each organization is taking to provide services to community members experiencing homelessness. COST: $95 for applications received by 1/26/26 ($120 for applications received by 1/30/26). Trip fee includes transportation, lodging and group meals. We'll be stopping at The Other Side Donuts--bring spending money if you'd like a treatt TRANSPORTATION: USU 15 passenger minibus PRE-TRIP MEETING: Monday, February 2, 2026; 4:30pm-5:30pm (required for all participants, trip fee due at this time) More information and applications available at the link provided.

February Film Fest Week 3: Losing Ground with Newtok (2020)

Join us for February Film Fest 2026! This event is a three-week series of documentary screenings focused on community sustainability. Week 3 focuses on losing ground with the 2020 film Newtok. To keep their culture and community intact, the 360 Yup’ik residents of Newtok, Alaska must relocate their entire village to stable ground upriver while facing a federal government that has failed to take appropriate action to combat climate change. Snacks provided!
