Cache Valley’s newest food truck is a hot spot for hot chocolate

The owners of one of Cache Valley’s newest food trucks are passionate about hot chocolate.

After a three-year effort to get his business started, Wyatt Peterson finally received the necessary permits to open The Cocoa Camper in January. Up to six flavors of hot chocolate are served at The Camper’s semi-permanent spot at Lynn’s Audio Video in Logan.

“We are not afraid to make our chocolate richer and sweeter than the mainstream brands,” Peterson said. “That’s what people are looking for.”

Many Logan residents are thrilled about this new business.

“The Cocoa Camper is deliciously addicting,” customer Casey Rowley said. “I love hot chocolate, and this is really one of the best out there. My husband is not a big hot chocolate person and he loves it as well.”

Leslie Forero said The Cocoa Camper is a tasty treat.

“January and February can feel bleak in Logan with the inversion. And COVID makes it feel even bleaker,” she said. “I found the Cocoa Camper a cheerful and pleasant winter treat. If you need a pick-me-up, they’re great.”

One of the most popular items is called the Cocoa Elixir: a jar of chocolate customers can use to make hot cocoa at home.

“The elixir is a jar of chocolate deliciousness,” Rowley said. “It’s nice to have at home so I can make it when I want it.”

Satisfied customers said they would recommend The Cocoa Camper to everyone they know.

“I messaged them very late one evening and they responded very quickly,” Beth Anne Sukphisit said. “We live nearby, so we hopped in the car, got the last hot cocoa and doughnut of the night, and said we’d be back again.”
