New Logan company creates made-from-scratch pies

An entrepreneurial baker has opened an online store that sells and delivers homemade pies to the residents of Cache Valley.

Kaitlyn Mathis, the creator and owner of Crusted Pie Company, merged her passion for baking and bringing people together by making pies from scratch.

“It has always been a dream of mine to own my own bakery,” said Mathis, who started selling pies via social media in November. “We started the business around Thanksgiving, and it was super successful. Within the first week, we sold more pies than we were able to make on our own.”

Crusted Pie Company sells four kinds of pie each month. The white chocolate, lemon cream cheese, and chocolate silk pies are available each month, while other flavors vary.

“At Crusted, everything from the crust to the filling to the whip cream is made from scratch," Mathis said. "It is fresh, and there are no preservatives in any of it.”

Customers are pleased with the fresh flavors and service.

“I love to support small businesses and everything from the options, packaging, taste and customer service makes this company a gem,” customer Julie Cook said. “Their pies are visually stunning, and the flavor is amazing.”

Pies are delivered to customers on Fridays and must be ordered by noon on Thursdays.

“I have been helping Kaitlyn since the beginning,” said Brooklyn Coggins, a Crusted Pie Company taste tester. “Her small idea has become a reality and we can’t wait to watch it grow.”
