Scott Ficklin, Consular Officer, US Embassy in Korea

Panel Discussion/Presentation

The Office of Global Engagement and the College of Humanities and Social Sciences will host Scott Ficklin (B.S. Creative Writing 2010) as part of International Education Week at Utah State University.

Scott is a second-tour consular officer serving in Seoul, Korea. He joined the Department of State in 2015 and served in Kingston, Jamaica, for his first tour. He was raised in Las Vegas before moving to Logan, Utah, where he met his wife. Before joining the Department, Scott worked as a lawyer in Idaho.

HackUSU 2019 Hackathon | Utah's Largest Hackathon

The HackUSU Hackathon is a 24-hour invention marathon and career fair! The event will begin with the opening ceremonies at 2:00pm and will end at 4:30pm on Saturday, November 17th. Students will have the chance to learn from professionals as they work to create "hacks", which are apps, websites, data insights, games, and hardware creations. Prizes will be awarded to the best hacks in a variety of categories. Students of all majors and of every level of ability are welcome! Computer scientists, graphic designers, engineers, data scientists, statisticians, and business majors as well as social workers and entrepreneurs can all be found at the core of hackathon teams. Entrepreneurs are welcome to come pitch ideas at our idea pitching event directly after the opening ceremonies. Social workers are especially needed to help us in this year's "Addressing Utah’s mental health" category. Come have lots of fun, get free food, and make something awesome.
