Program Notes for "War and the Human Heart" Concert on Nov. 3

Exhibition

As part of the University's series of events commemorating the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day, the American Festival Chorus will be performing a special concert, "War and the Human Heart." This program will communicate in music, words and film, what a veteran's experience is really like. Notes for all the pieces on the concert program are on display in the lobby of the Daines Concert Hall so you can learn more about the background of the music being performed. For Freedoms: Fifty States Exhibit

Arts/Entertainment

Since 2016, For Freedoms has produced exhibitions, town hall meetings, billboards and public art to spur greater participation in civic life.

This year, we launch The 50 State Initiative, a new phase of programming from September through December 2018 during the lead-up to the midterm elections. Building off of the existing artistic infrastructure in the United States, For Freedoms has developed a network of artists and institutional partners who will produce nationwide public art installations, exhibitions and local community dialogues in order to inject nuanced, artistic thinking into public discourse. Centered around the vital work of artists, we hope that these exhibitions and related projects will model how arts institutions can become civic forums for action and discussion of values, place, and patriotism.
